The Nepal Mountain Leader Association (NMLA) represents Nepal as a country member of the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA). It is a non-profit organization founded by professional mountain leaders in Nepal. The association was officially registered on June 21, 2017, under the NGO Act 2034 (Part 4) with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Nepal.
The NMLA was established with the goal of uniting skilled professionals International Mountain Leaders (IMLs) in the mountain tourism sector and enhancing the standards of their activities. By doing so, it aims to contribute to the nation’s economy through the efforts of trained and competent workforce.
Aligned with the criteria of the UIMLA, the NMLA in collaboration with relevant government agencies and various organizations is dedicated to providing UIMLA standard IMLs training programs. These programs focus on producing qualified professionals IMLs delivering high-quality services and mitigating risks associated with mountain tourism.
Objectives:
1. Valuation of Participants for Certification as Professional International Mountain Leaders (UIMLA Standards)
2. This assessment aims to enhance the safety and quality of leading services in trekking and mountaineering activities. It focuses on establishing and upholding professional standards by evaluating participants’ skills and knowledge.
3. The process ensures that individuals possess the requisite expertise in leadership, technical proficiency, and professional competence, aligning with the recognized standards for trekking and mountaineering. It also promotes consistency in the delivery of high-quality services within the mountain tourism industry.
